![]() All were fresh and crisp and didn’t take over from the wine itself. Sungold tomatoes and little green beans with basil, mint and shallots, along with a Scribe garden salad and flowers also arrived at the table. ![]() Next up was a yummy grilled lamb polpette with green coriander and pita – nice and soft! – served with a crisp 2016 Estate Riesling. (All somewhat thwarted by my recent braces. Once seated, we were brought our first bites: almonds, olives and garden cucumbers. When we visited, the chef-in-residence was Cal Peternell of Chez Panisse.įirst off, we were greeted at check-in with our first tasting: a 2016 Rosé of pinot noir, which turned out to be my favorite wine of the day. The tastings, which cost a pretty penny at $60, include a series of light dishes made by guest chefs and the menu varies week-to-week. There are comfy sofas, and tables with benches – so be sure to specify which you want when you make your reservation (which you need to do to visit). The patio, on the other hand, is a lovely, shady place to sit on a hot summer’s afternoon. Even on a sweltering hot day, I can imagine sheltering inside from the rain on a winter’s day. Having survived the 1906 earthquake and-despite many years of neglect-it has been resurrected and revived in an entirely unique way. You can go look around and finish your tasting in one of their super cute rooms in their hacienda (farm-style) property. The Hacienda at Scribe Winery is a gorgeous grand old house at the end of a palm tree-lined driveway. Pinot Noir is a very well-known varietal in Sonoma County, and Scribe produces some of the best ones!! Nothing Better than Fresh Strawberries and Pinot Noir!! What I love the most about Pinot Noir is that it’s a catch-all food pairing wine because it’s light enough for fish but complex enough to hold up to some richer meats like duck. The next dish served was arancini balls filled with delicious risotto, and grilled vegetables which paired perfectly with another one of their Chardonnays!! My favorite pairing: Arancini Balls + Chardonnay!!Īt the end of the tasting we had sweet organic strawberries with a glass of Pinot Noir. One thing that I absolutely adore about Scribe is the food pairing because most of the wineries in the Valley are not allowed to serve food! Yummy and Healthy Salad!! As you can see, the lunch pairing was healthy, natural, organic, and delicious. The next course was a lovely floral salad paired with a glass of Chardonnay. We were greeted at the entrance with a glass of the Riesling, which I absolutely loved because it is a dry, citrus white wine (I am not big fan of sweet wines), so their Riesling hit the spot! Scribe also provided some almonds, fresh cherry tomatoes, and olives to snack on that came from their gorgeous garden! Reservations are required in advance to enjoy a wine tasting at this gorgeous winery!! The Entrance of Scribe Winery!! When vinified with non-interventionist methods, the result is a distinct wine that faithfully reflects what the vineyard naturally expresses. Their winemaking is currently managed by fourth-generation California farmers and brothers, Andrew and Adam Mariani.Īndrew and Adam believe the best wines are the result of a healthy relationship between man and nature, and that a vineyard managed in harmony with the greater ecosystem results in more site-specific wines that represent a sense of time and place. ![]() The winery was founded in 2007 on a property that pioneered pre-prohibition Sonoma Valley. Scribe Winery in Sonoma produces many vibrant wine varietals such as Rosé, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and also my favorite red, Cabernet Sauvignon!! Scribe has an organic garden on the property, which allows for a farm to table experience to pair with tasty wines!! The Wine Tasting and Food Experience is something you cannot miss during your visit. As a Napa Valley resident, I’m happy to provide this tip because Scribe was one of the most beautiful properties I’ve ever visited. ![]() Napa and Sonoma have numerous outstanding wineries to visit, and it can be overwhelming to choose the best ones if you are visiting for a short period of time.
